Lesson 3: The importance of museums

Do museums play an important role in your life?
This week we discussed artistic hobbies (see http://www.stickyball.net/writing/445.html for more practice) and the importance of museums.
We also tried to come up with some ideas for making museums more interesting for young people.
What are your best ideas? Download the lesson, write up your ideas, and post them here. Then, if you wish, you can also post your ideas to the New York Times - the link is in the lesson!
The powerpoint presentation (appling2) can be downloaded from the usual site https://public.me.com/dpickens1.

NON-FREQUENTANTI: In addition to the above assignment, read and do the exercises from Unit 10 MUSEUMS in English for Cultural Heritage, pp. 101-111.

If a museum in my community choose me as part of a “Teen Council” charged with attracting my friends and showing them that museums aren’t dull, I’d propose to carry out an exhibition of famous artists and, at the same time, to give young unknown artists the chance to show their works: from paintings to sculptures, from photos to movies. Obviously, there would be a selection, depending on the genre and the skill, and, concerning the chosen artists, we would enable them to be highlighted till the end of the exhibition. The price of the ticket would be reduced. If you came, you could have an aperitif, meanwhile admiring well-known and outcropping works. As for the movies which are of course an art form, we’d offer you before closing the screening of niche films and the opportunity to ask some questions to the film director. In sum, museums really need to increase their users’ participation and most importantly to improve youngsters’ involvement: so, every effort in this direction might be very creative and catchy in order to make them realize how much they should appreciate these unique instrument for engendering culture.

In my city, information related to cultural heritage is very low, for both adults and teens. To attract teens to a museum I would probably create areas where they can come in direct contact with art and become artists themselves, by reconstructing the real-time environment and tools of the time. The attention of teens will be stimulated by creativity and the ability to express themselves will make them closer to art.

I have many ideas to attract teens to museums. First of all, I will create a kind of “snakes and ladders” or “treasure hunt” with riddles and questions about some paintings, statues or findings. It is a good game to interest teens in history and arts. In addiction to this, I think that teens can be teachers. So, each of them can study something. Then, in a group visit at the museum, every art form will be explained by one student. Everyone can (must) study what he most loves. It’s fantastic and easier when you can explain feelings and details of something you really like. Maybe, meanwhile they try to do a very good work, they will learn loving museums. I think it could be a great experience.

Some days ago I red an article of an important newspaper talking about a particular project of the Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston: engage young talent to organize artistic events like public canvassers, or engage young talent fot young public, beacuase museums aren't "ancient" or "standard", but "alive" and "inteactive". In fact Museums live thanks to their public. In that famous Museum, in fact, young talent organized to pay their public.
If I must organize a sensibilization event about an alive participation in a particular museum of my city, I have some idea.
At first we can carry out perfect copies, on paper, of important artistic works, above all pictures anda drawings, with some little difference from the original, then, young people of every age, could enjoy themselves finding the difference.
Another interesting idea cuold be the realization of a strange quiz about some authors and some works, and the young boy, or girl, who will answer exactly at the questions,he, or she, will receive a final prize: a basic lesson from a real artist.

I visited the National Archaeological Museum in Naples with my friends two days ago. I was very fashinated by the classical beauty of the collections contained, but the statue that I caught my attention was the magnificent statue of the goddess Athena, so grand and yet so refined and elaborated in detail, clothing, hair, face.
Usually when I travel more and visit the archaeological sites, such as the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam or the Uffizi Gallery in Florence. The government does not support funding for the arts, and I think that if there was interest for the archaeological sites, many important monuments are not on the path of degradation, as the Pompeii’houses and the Colosseum in Rome. My favorite art form is film, but she is not married by the various public bodies, also the enter in the museum isn’t free, if so,many students would go to museum, perhaps alongside the great classics, new creations of young artists.

One thing about museums that I have visited that interested me the most is things about the Impressionist Art. In order to show teen and adults that museums are not boring. However, this exhibit would be interactive. The main attraction is a representation of L.H.O.O.Q. in 3D of Marcel Duchamp, that speaks about the museum, the paintings and the artists. To be interesting these exhibition, I'd have students draw their own art, giving vent to imagination. During those activities, there would be free tasty refreshments. In the end the students show off the pictures and the winner would recive a special prize.

In Italy and especially in my city, Naples, adults as teens are not attracted by museums, considered boring. I think that should be created interactive areas, where teens can learn the techniques by which various artists have performed the work, to betterunderstand the history and context in which the artist has formed.
Then move on to other areas in which the person may experience the same colors and put into practice the newly learned techniques, the real laboratories in museums, to encourage teens in relation to art.

Museums play an important role for the cultural education of young. Today young people see museums as earnest temples which houses the works of art.
My idea is museums need to become a meeting place between young people and their art, and a place of confrontation with the works of artists of the past. I think young people would live museums as protagonists.
If a museum in my town took me on to increase young people to the museum, I would put in place the following plan.
I would go in the schools of the city and ask the professors of letters and art to meet young people and ask them for the artistic pastimes. I would invite youngs to create their own artistic committee for the selection of their works to show in the rooms of the museum.
The artworks will be selected for artistic categories: painting, sculpture, photography, theater, music, comics, and so on. It will be the young artists themselves to organize the exhibition of their works in the rooms of the museum. In this way they would live the museum as a living institution of free artistic expression of encounter and engagement with the works of the past helped by their teachers. In this way, the museum becomes a dynamic space of cultural development for future generations, the next custodians of the past.

I believe that to attract teenagers in museums could be created pratical activities involving.
For example:
-could be created the sculptures with clay;
-paint on white wall with tempera or watercolour, imitating the famous paintings with the different painting techniques.
-paint on electronic wall or on display, where touching with the hand you create a drawing.

If a local museum paid me to attract teens. I would probably created areas where children, but not only children, would be transported to that time with masks and clothes to wear and music. Places where you can find free food and drinks. More events that explain the history the city and where you can recreate the scene of that time, create a true representation with actors that explain what happens.

I think that it's difficult to attrack teenegers today, because of the bad influence of some "media" like television or social network. Teens like watching reality shows, cartoons, or surfing on internet than going to a museum. So, I think that we have to attrack them with these same instruments, and speak their same "kind" of language. I would make (and young people could help me ) a video where talk about a work of art or about the life of an artist and publish it on you tube, or I can make a tv spot about the culture. It's important do that, speaking a "modern" language, or like if it's narrating a fairy story. It's my idea.

Last week I went to the Museum of Capodimonte with my classmates and the teacher of art to see the paintings that we studied in classroom.
In the museum there was a group of high school students but they were bored and they didn’t listen the guide.
My ideas for making museums more interesting for young people are:
First the guides ought to involve the teenagers and they ought to ask what teenagers think about the paintings.
Then the guides should use simple words and they should tell curiosities about the artist, the subject of the picture and about the historical period.
We could put the easels opposite the paintings where the teenagers can repaint and personalize the pictures.
Finally we could organize a theme party (fancy-dress ball), for example: the Renaissance.

To attract young people to museums would be nice to organize weekend of free entries. To understand the significance of the exhibits you can create movies that tell how the artists have created works of art. You can open the art studios where children can create their work. Too much publicity and information would help the museum system.

j think that to attract young people to museums, it should transform the museum in a more confortable place, where to know not only the work of art, but also the soul of the artist.
The mood in the moment that the artist decided to represent a painting but also the symbolism and curiosity concerning that work.
I would also like a voice that explain it accompained by with an atmosphere of identifying the artist. In conclusion the museum like the theatre.

Some months ago I visited the "Pio Monte della Misericordia"It is sit in the historied centre of naples and it hostes one of most important painting of Caravaggio :Le sette opere della Misericordia".I was struck with it because its complexity, but in the some time its simplicity. The scene is full of shadows and only the tarch lights the principal actions. Each action rapresents one of god deeds.for example ou right there is a woman thath sukles ou old man trough the grid of prison.Caravaggio doesn't want to show holy facts, but he wants to naunsiutthe deep sense. The art like all culture are one ou important wealth for our country .So the governament support them whith rich funds. If the local museum ask me to attract teens I organaize a quiz game!I select some questions about painting or other art works and who answer well will win a prize. That is free entry for one year for the italian museum.

This is my idea: to attract teens, maybe, a Museum can instal some computers that make art very funny! For exemple they can show the pictures or the sculptures like a social network pages or, in some cases, show the work in 3D, or, again, can make some games for talk about the work or about its author.
Than, the Museum can hiring some street artists to make a little show about the most important work in it.

I think that for approach the teen to the culture and museum it takes some new idea.
Today, internet, videogames, chat attracted most children, adolescent and adults, the virtual world appears real, for this reason I think that we can created in a museum a room, when the people (after that have visited the museum) can go and can play with games in 3D.
In this games the teen can choose an artist and see its time and his life.

I would like to create a “Young Museum” where teens can do every type of art!In this museum are accepted all creative people that love to make art and that haven’t the possibility to shows their works. In this way I think that young people that are less creative are curious to see what people of the same age have realized.Besides I think that museums aren’t very interesting for young people because the museum word is synonym of ancients and then boredom! In a digital world where teens live,is opportune to use their(our)technological and modern language. I have appreciated very much the initiative of the Museum of Capodimonte which has placed at disposal of the student-bodies,who go in visit to the museum, a certain number of Nintendo DS’ consoles with the art academy program to draw the present masterpieces under the own point of view and own feelings.

Hi teacher!
I think that when you visit an art museum in the your city or in an other city, this interest is subjective, personal and don't all have this interest!
For this reason, attract teen and young people, but also many adult, it takes new ideas: ideas for understand and appreciate all art of Italian museums!
Of course, the Italian government supports the expense for the arts but many people haven't got respect for our art.
The my idea for attract young people is make theatre in the local or national museums, with young actors; or make courses of painting and drawing, and invite young students at remake the more famous art works of Italy!
Maybe the young people of the our community have a respect for the culture of the our Italian city and Europe’s other city.

I Think that nowadays, teens aren't enough interested in to Art Museums and to the Art in general, especially because they aren't ivolved personally.
So, if I were a member of a "Teen Council" charged with attracting teens, I'd propose first of all to organise some "Special Days" where the kids themselves could prepare some exhibitions or events of the artists that they prefer and present them to the public.
Besides I'd organise some typical weeks with exhibitions dedicated to particular subjects that could interest teens : for example music or cinema history adding the screening of some films in presence of some important and qualified personality to whom the teens can ask some questions.
But most of all, to attract teens and of course all the people, the ticket's price should be reduced, espacially in summer I'd promote some special offerts or a free entry.

If a museum chose me to take part of a "teen council" to stimulate and attract my friends in order to show them that museums and art galleries aren't necessarily boring I'd create a lot of events:
for example several "free entry art weekends", during which I'd organize, at first night, different tours in each museum area guided by a teen, with music and headphones for audio listening for those who want and, at the end of these, a "meeting" at the hall of museum to set up quizzes and art tests on sofas on everything they have seen.
These games need to gain bonus and points to use when the museum will be transformed into a real disco! Those who will guess more art infos on paintings, sculpures and artists may exhibit their complimentary tickets (the equivalent to the accumulated bonus!) and drink without pay all night long!
I think this idea is fabulous and it could be feasible and really funny! I hope a museum carries out this activity to catch the attention of teens...

In the last years, young people have changed their way of life, the habits and interests. They like to go to parties, to discos, to travel around the world and first of all to serf the internet. They are the so called "computer addicts" and from the web they take every kind of information and learn a lot. In the meanwhile their inerest for culture is decreasing. If somenone suggests to visit a museum they are not enthusiastic because, according to them, it's a very boring place. So, how can a tachermake the museum an interesting place to see? I think the best way is to educate the students by planning a project study in which way be introduced the most important artists and their works releating to a given historycal subject the information must be clear and simple. Then the teacher can ask the students to use the Net to visit the museum in a virtual way and search for useful details. The students involved in this project will improve their knowledges and could appreciate the works of art when they really are in front of them. According to me, the students don't have to stay inside for a long time;during the visit they should listen to a music background and finally take part an active part in a workshop in order to try new art experiences!

The museum is often considered a boring place. I think this happens because the visitor doesn’t know the history and value of what he sees.
Knowledge is the only way to appreciate. I think that to make more interesting art and museum is necessary first of all to stimulate children from primary school to love the culture, for example teaching it in simple terms and often leading the child to the museum to see live what he learns...as an interesting game. Only if we learn when we are children we can develop a passion and we can consider interesting a place apparently boring.
This certainly is not enough. The museum also has to change and must become more modern: we could use the new technology (3D technology, touchscreen technology, for example), to make curious especially young people.

Nowadays museums are like real "deserts"!
Visiting various museums,i have noticed a big disinterestedness to art by young students during guided tours.
The museum have transformed from a place of learning and knowledge to place of passage for a lack of adequate services such as tourist guides.
There aren't interesting proposals by local authorities to promote the interest of young people towards art.
Besides it is also obvious that museums are visited by an adult population and less by young people who usually go to museums to have a good time.
I think that museums should use modern technologies to attract young people, for example they could use new touch screen and multimedial programmes to show their works of art. Perhaps, new generation technology could be less boring than guides. Moreover also istitutions could provide admission free to induce young people to take an interest in art.

I think that to attract the teenagers' attenction to the art (or museum) there is need to organized public evebts in every country, where recreate the ancient traditions, with costums, setting and background, typical food and drinks. In my little village for example, called Suio, near Latina, during the Summer period, there are the celebrations of three days of public holiday called "FESTA DELLE TRE TORRI",in which the people recreate the Medieval background; in this event the streets are very full of teenagers- and not only- because it is very very evocative and interesting!!!

In a local museum I would plan many events to tempt teenagers to go to museums and to love art. I plan manual activities like making ceramic vases with the ancient technique and then painting them with black or red vanish like potteries of V-VI cent. B.C.. Another activity is painting frescos on the wall. Teenagers have to prepare on the wall many layers of building materials like filler and then paint them with painting colours.
In this way teenagers can understand the importance of the art and try to approach with cultural heritage. Through this approach I think they realize not to damage this so precious richness as frequently young people do.

With a lot of rewards, of course! I'd prepare some creative debates in whitch every guy can express his/her own opinions about art and where everyone can give a critical and personal description about the most liked artwork. At the end I would ask to everyone to create some personal artworks to exhibit in the museum for one day, among the famous artist's one.

I think that is difficult addict someone in a place where he doesn’t wants to go; so I think that I shouldn’t take teens into museum but I should give them something to “they want” to came into the museum.
I think that the people have a "prejudice" on the museums because for a long time art was been some of elitist.
At the Tate museum of London people do yoga in the museum; I think it’s a beautiful idea!
If I should addict people to museum I make an "open arts museum" where either the artists draw, sculpt and make with the visitors and also the visitor can make with artists; or the visitors remake an paint with their way of vision, so we have a different kinds of the same opera; as what's art if our world view.

The museums have represented and still represent a fundamental reality in my life.Ever since I was little girl,I have always been attracted to the art world, in fact, I often visited with my parents museums and churches of Naples.
I believe that the concept of art indeed art itself is something essential in our lives.
The painters to create works of art have sought ideas and forms by nature and objects around them, from people who attended, so watching the world and things.
They therefore created great movements and artistic works that have influenced us all.
I feel completely in tune with the art starting from ancient up to the contemporary age.
I often read books of painting, documenting the lives of certain artists and trying to incorporate their thoughts from the works they create.
I also think that is important to go to museum and to have a direct approach-visual work of art.
I often visit the museum of Capodimonte, it is the most important and rich gallery of Southern Italy.
The museum is located inside a park in Naples in the sumptuous palace that has been experienced and hosted by the ruling families in eighteenth century and early decades of the tweltieth century.
The building designed by the Roman Antonio Canevari, it has been wanted by the king Charles of Bourbon.
The museum consist of one hundred and fifty rooms divided into three levels, showing not only paintings dating from the thirteenth century to the twentieth century, but also bronzes, sculptures, tapestries, drawings and prints, gold, porcelain, whole exibition rooms, furniture, weapons and armor.
The "Farnese Gallery" houses the important works that are truly unique pieces: the "Danae" by Titian, Annibale Carracci's pity, the "portrait of cardinal Alessandro Farnese" by Titian, the "Crucifixion" of Masaccio, Botticelli's tables, the "Transfiguration"of Bellini...
I have particulary been interested to the magnificent table of Simone Martini:the "St Louis of Tolouse" built in 1317,it is a work painted in tempera on board and it measures 138cm x 200cm.
In this painting Louis is the son of Charles d'Anjou second and heir have resigned the Kingdom of Naples to his Franciscan vocation, wich sits on the throne with the franciscan habit and rich episcopal robes.
Bishop Louis of Tolouse,on the head by two angels receive the heavenly crown, and at the same time he puts on the head of his younger brother, Robert, the crown of the Kingdom of Naples.
Appear in the predella of the life of the Saint, his funeral after the death of starvation in Brignoles and his miracle post mortem.
The magnificence of the Angevin dynasty is exacerbated by the gems that surround crowns, jewels and clothes of two d'Anjou and the mantle of the Saint.

Museums today are mostly empty.
Expecially young people give more importance to entertainment rather than go to an art exhibition.
When i was young i have traveled the world with my parents and visited many museums as Moma,Guggenheim Museum,Museè d'Orsay,British Museum,National Gallery.
These museums have very good organization and also young people can have fun and learn at the same time.
Most of our museums are not managed properly and tourims will suffer.
If a local museum paid me to attract teens i would make posters, go to the history teachers and ask them to do projects over the items in the museum, or maybe even for bonus poing to a research project over them too.

I have an idea: organize spacial events.
In the weekend are organized in the museum shows. In these shows the artists are young people for recite the life and work the painter; or next to the old works to put the works of youn with the explanation of their interpretation.
These museum are considered boring by young people why the governement must listen to the views of young people.
Make the art sites in meeting sites to learn the history of artist and the creation of new artists!

The museums are very important to know our past, but also our present.
I think that very often are unfrequented because not “communicate” adequately with visitors. Not everyone behind a cultural background that allows the understanding of the works: paintings, sculptures and so on. Often the labels do not help because it is used a language too complex.
The organization of side events to the permanent exhibits (for example: concerts, meetings, screenings) would make the museum more "alive ".

Last summer I went to South Tyrol and I visited a particular museum; in fact during the visit I could enter into the rural scenes with special effects. It was a wonderful museum about the local countrified world. I think that it would be possible doing the same for art museums and archeological sites too. Visitors, in particular teenagers, could choose a character of the painting that they prefer and they could become themselves the chosen character and, jumping in the painting, they could change it doing a virtual tour inside the scene of the picture . Unfortunately the accomplishment of this idea is too imaginary and expensive, because at the moment we can’t think about an improving of the museums, so I have other possible ideas to attract and interest children and young people. For example, I could interest the teens in their next visit to the museum using interactive computer games. An useful exercise would be the hidden object game in which young people will use their eye-spy skills to search for hidden details of a painting or sculpture. This project will encourage them to become culturally involved and to familiarize themselves with art in all its dimensions.

The last time I went to a museum was the last week, we are working to restore the treasure of San Gennaro is located near the chapel and a museum that contains all the works in silver, coral and gold donated to the church, is a very nice museum, I had never visited before work because of the expensive ticket. I accompanied my friends at university, we combine work and pleasure, and we took the opportunity to visit a museum for free!

The most famous museum that I visited in another town is the Louvre, I saw all the paintings and if I have to be honest I was disappointed with the Mona Lisa a lot. However usually once a year I, my mother and my sister left to visit a city of art, is a good habit, which brings us together and makes us grow. The last city we visited was Amsterdam.
I am convinced that my country does not spend enough for art, have cultural heritage more than the rest of the world, but we use it, abandon it and we are not tourists in Italy, Art would be a great source economic if only we knew advantage it.
The film is definitely an art form, there are films that are true masterpieces, I think a movie can become one of the top art exhibitions, because it has music, art, photography, lights, shadows, colors and words. All art forms that exist in the world.
To attract children to visit the museum I organize competitions with prizes or general knowledge about the museum. I'd do the theme parties, such parties in form or disco, and I would pay the ticket a little more, giving a free entry to see the exhibition.

I visited the Louvre museum in Paris with my family last year. The Louvre was originally a royal palace that was built on the site of an old castle and added to by different Kings, but with the construction of Chateau de Versailles it became obsolete and was then turned into a museum back in the 1700's.
Being one of the oldest and largest museums, it is home to probably the most well-known painting in the world, the Mona Lisa by Leonardo da Vinci and has become the most famous and most visited art museum in the world with over 8 million visitors coming here every year.this is my preferit pinting of this museum. The painting is a half-length portrait and depicts a seated woman (it is almost unanimous that she is Lisa del Giocondo) whose facial expression is frequently described as enigmatic.[
In an easily accessible part of Paris located by the River Seine, The Louvre once again incorporates the beautiful Carrousel and the Tuileries Gardens that are a great place for a casual stroll, yet this means that it brings the museum outside with sculptures and statues from artists such as Aristide Maillol and Auguste Rodin.
Most people now find The Louvre recognisable by the large glass pyramid that is located in the central courtyard and this serves as the main entrance to this awe inspiring Paris museum.
If only we learn to live more our cultural heritage and not to neglect them, we will bring the museums of Naples on a equal with other major museums like this one, so as to consider our culture as the oil of society.

If a museum in my community chose me as part "Teen Council" changed with attracting my friends and showing them that museum aren't dull. The my proposal to admin in new programme of events of museum could be the ticket with a discount, for entrance above all for young included from 13 to 28 years old, since this is an age of discovery and education. Also the museum must have a part dedicated to food with the green park, so to stop when you want it. The visitors entertain with shows of old artist and the new opera of young artist. In the evening, the museum could be open , as to give hospitality as well concert of popular music or pop music et cetera.

In my city there are many museums. The problem is that many of them are unknow to the young.
Another problem is that many young people aren’t sufficiently educated to Artistic Heritage! Unfortunately, young people today are interested in each other and tend to neglect the Artistic Heritage.
So, to attract them, we must offer something fun and exciting.
I think that a good idea to increase visits to museums for young people is to organize thematic exhibitions and to enable young artists to be free to express themselves.
I would suggest also of art competitions with a prize to the winner, maybe a trip to an European Art City.
In this way they are free to express their creativity and begin to have a direct approach to the art.

I think that is important for all the people the culture and the museums, but unfortunately in Italy the authorities don't give more importance to the culture and the museum.
I think have some ideas for making museums more interesting for all the people, especially for young people, for example:
-could be created a free library and internet point in the museums
-organize free visit
-organize thematic visit

IMPORTANCE OF MUSEUMS

The National Museum of Naples is one of most important museum in the world. The Farnese collection, the Pompeii frescoes and Magna Grecia make this museum a major attraction for tourists and archeologist come from all over the world. I worked for a long time, as a photographer, for the production of some big events, like “The Magna Grecia”, in 1996, and for the conservation of archeological heritage. I also worked since 1989, for Capodimonte Museum and others in Europe and Mexico. Now, as a teacher of photography, I think our students need to develop a strong sense of belonging to their environment through knowledge of the history and art. The museum is also the place of the memory and reflection. I disagree with the decision of the current Italian government by cutting funding to the culture. It 's a terrible mistake! My students are working now to a project on photographic techniques for the preservation, diffusion and conservation of Cultural heritage.

In Naples, there are many monuments and important museums, that are famous over all Europe. The Archeological National Museum, contiens contains important finds of Pompeii and Herculaneum, as intended by the Bourbon kingdom in 1738!
Might be interesting to bring the kids to visit museums, probably with interesting events and guides young people!

The museums have played a fundamental role for the development and awareness of culture for the people. I would say that the fundamental role of the museum for who studies “resaturatore dei beni culturali” is to give the attention to the direct material. Which I could not do without. Even the inclusion of the the art works is something of nobility which makes us more profound.

The cultural values of the young generation are not connected with the beauty of these master pieces. It is not a matter of making them interesting, as they already are. The young generation unfortunately are not interested, as they are occupied with other aspects of their life. They do not value and appreciate the beauty that resides in the structures which are linked to the simple values which they are not connected with. In order for the museums to be more successful they would need to lower the cost of the entrance into the museum. There would also need to be more publicity engaging the young people. It is not what the museum can do for us, but we can do for the museum. To make it more desirable, appreciated and valued by all aspects of society, including the future of tomorrow … the young generation.

Museums play a vital role in the development of cultural awareness. I would say that is essential for people like me who studied to become a restorer of cultural heritage given its close relationship to the matter. I could not do without. Even the mere contemplation of the works is something that embodies the soul. Makes us more profound.
The values of the new youth culture 'that stand out too much t the beauty of these masterpieces. It is not to make them interesting because they are already contemplating a work of art has become something of no use to young people interested in too much, do not realise how much beauty lies in these structures in this work because they are linked to values much more 'simple and clearly distance themselves from the perfection of these works surely there need to cheaper tickets and more publicity but above all it would take the young people concerned. It is not what the museum can do for us but what we can do to museum. To make it more desirable.

Three months ago I had an exam of Museografia and Museotecnica.
The exam was about the history of the museum and the way it should be organized for an exhibition, the material that should be used, but also how to make it more interesting for non-expert public.
The text showed several methods to organize an interesting exhibition, my favourite one was: “synchronized sequences of sounds and lights”. The work is lighted up while an audio comment describes it, then the light illuminates another work and the sound talks about it, allowing a comparison between works and giving a clearer vision of the history and the style of the artist. For a public is not expert, the show will be interesting, instructive and entertaining.

If I was hired by a museum of my country for attract teenagers of my own age, I might create kinds of programs thanks to they can admire works art without getting bored, so watching animated history slide, or listening a funny guide, and I might engage teenagers that can create a show on work art or paint works art by themself for theyr friends. Finally I might create a website of museum where the teenagers can see and comment theyr performances or works art and condivide photos or thinks with other friends.

I would like to improve the way to visit museums and I change many things.
At the first I organize a free concert in the museum to attract young people.
than I invite young artist to show their works; this is an opportunity to be know.

In my country there aren't museums, but if I lived in a city like Naples, where there are many museums and many cultural heritage, I'd go every weekend to visit one. Unfortunately, nowadays people but especially young people are attracted by other things, they are not interested in art and culture. I think there is a need for innovative ideas to push young people to get closer to this reality. For example, I organize a monthly "The Night of the Museums". I'd leave open the museum for a whole evening and I would let go people free. Or in the museum I'd make available a large room with a large white panels and paint and I'd suggest to visitors for a day of improvising artists. Or for those who are keen not only to art but photography I'd allows them to assist the development of pictures and meetings with famous photographers in the world, gratis.

If a local museum paid me to attract young people I would start my “Teen’s Plan” organizing thematic visits across the new generations of art. To give you an exemple about my idea of a Young form of art I suggest a visit to the PLART situated in via Martucci, 48 in Naples. The Plart is a polyfunctional space dedicated to scientific research and technological innovation for the recovery, restoration and conservation of works of art and design in plastic. But the PLart is also a strange and colorful world, rich of senses’ appetizers and full of innovations. A museum for me must be always on the go to put forward new projects for move with the times !

The museum was born as a place
in which education is imparted and promote culture.
These, then, can be considered real deposits of historical memory and cultural identity of our country, so it must be preserved and protected for future generations.
To involve the public and spreading the culture, museums and performing many tasks, exhibitions, guided tours, workshops and educational activities for schools, families and groups, publications, conferences and conventions.
In addition to the more 'classic' (archaeological, historical, artistic and scientific), there are also specialized museums, or entirely devoted to a theme, such as film, ceramics, automobiles, until you get to the issues most curious as the hat, the scale or the crib.
To attract the attention of even the babies were born the so-called "children's museum", that are places of cultural experience where they can find spaces and tools for the development of activities in their congenial and where they receive the stresses intellectual and practical courses to develop cognitive .

I think that it is not simple for teens loving visit museum and maybe planning some concert isn't the right answer.
I belive that nowaday a lot of people look at the museum as a "cemetery for the pictures".In particular teens consider art as a "status symbol" for a few people.
But it is possible changing idea promoting a good education at cultural heritage.

The museums today are empty and very sad. For making museums more interesting for young people, in my opinion, we must organaize some multimedia tour to interact with them. For example we can play some music during the tour or we can make the labs, with the artists at work, to better understand the painter's technique.
